Mission

__ Mercia Entertainment’s mission is to offer patrons a stimulating, dynamic and educational entertainment experience by retelling classic stories through theater, film, music and art.

The origins of Mercia...

Mercia Entertainment was founded in 2011 by Mary Riley, who wanted create a company not limited to just theater, but film, music, & art.  Her long-term vision is to create a place where audiences can come to see a short film, watch a cabaret, see theater, browse an art gallery in the lobby, all while under the same roof, creating a welcoming place of multiple cultural opportunities & events.

Why the name?
Mercia (Muhr-si-uh)
Mary is an avid researcher of her genealogy, and came across a fact that she hopes will never be proven untrue, that Lady Godiva is her 31st great-grandmother. Lady Godiva was the wife of Leofric, Earl of Mercia and most people know about her famous story. This name occurs in many places on her tree and in searching for  the perfect name for her new venture, came across Mercia and found the perfect match. Mercia was also one of the kingdoms of the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy.   More information on Mercia can be found here
